Sultan Uddin Owaisi (1930 – 2008) was an Indian politician, lawyer and social worker. He was born in Hyderabad, India and was a member of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), a political party based in Hyderabad.
Owaisi was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly four times from the Chandrayangutta constituency in Hyderabad. He was also a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, and served as the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting in the government of India.
Owaisi was also known for his social work and philanthropy, particularly in the field of education. He founded several educational institutions in Hyderabad, including the Owaisi School of Excellence, the Deccan School of Management, and the Deccan College of Engineering and Technology.
In addition, Owaisi was deeply committed to the cause of Muslim empowerment and championed the rights of the minority community in India. He was a vocal critic of communalism and advocated for the secular fabric of India.
Owaisi passed away in Hyderabad in 2008 at the age of 78. He was succeeded in politics by his son, Asaduddin Owaisi, who is currently the Member of Parliament from Hyderabad.
